Mairzy Doats
"Mairzy Doats" is a novelty song composed in 1943 by Milton Drake, Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston. It was a popular wartime song.
The words seem to be meaningless:
Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?
Yes! Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldnt you?
but it "translates" as
"Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy."
My Mum used to sing this to amuse us when we were little.
This is a hand-printed gocco design of two does, printed onto the music score for Mairzy Dotes. The deer are in black and have a gold flock print underlay. This print is a limited edition of 35. It comes individually wrapped in a gold mount and is ready to slot into a standard 8x10 inch frame.
