The Heiress

"The heiress" is a large grand brooch inspired by Victorian mourning jewellery and is made with YOUR antique picture or photo. (The girl in the example pictured is my great-great-great-great-great grandmother!). These make wonderful gifts and are fab to wear to weddings or other big family occassions. Wouldn't it be great to have one made with your grandparents' wedding photo to wear to your sister's wedding? They always attract an interested crowd. It's also such a great way to get those treasured old photos out of the dusty album and into your every day life.

I will use one of your own favourite family photos/ painted portraits which will be printed onto linen to form the centre of the brooch. The fabric picture is then mounted in a black acrylic frame- hand drawn and designed by me- you won't find these frames anywhere else.

The brooch is then finished with your choice of chains and dangles. Silver, copper, black and a co-ordinating drop of some sort. I can happily incorporate your own components into this piece- lockets look especially good, bloved pet tags or other pieces of family jewellery.

How it works:

1) Place your order.
I will work with you to make this brooch and will keep in touch often.

2) You must send me a digital file of your chosen photo- antique monochrome pictures work best, or modern pictures of your favourite people in ye olde fancy dress, steampunk photo shoots, silhouettes etc. I can even do pets! Mine, pictured above, is a painting that hangs in my aunt's house which I just photographed on the wall. I do reserve the right to decline a commission and return your money if your choice of photos is not suitable for the piece. However I will work closely with you to ensure that you are happy.

3) If you don't have a digital file of your photo I will consider scanning it in for you free of charge. However you must pay to have the photo sent to me and returned to you by recorded delivery to ensure its safety. The same goes for any lockets etc that you would like incorporated into the brooch. I'd hate for any important heirlooms to go awry so I insist on recorded delivery each way for any of your original items used.
